A Hug to Hold Onto - Celebrating 25 Years of Care & Comfort
We’re delighted to announce a truly special collaboration between The Foster Care Charity and Project Linus UK. And we couldn’t imagine a better time to launch it. 2025 marks 25 years since both of our organisations began supporting children across the UK.
As part of this partnership, every child placed with one of our foster families will now receive a unique handmade blanket or quilt. These comforting gifts will be included in the welcome boxes that our charity team put together for each child. The blankets offer a soft and reassuring “hug” during what can be a very uncertain time. Children already placed with our wonderful foster families will also receive their own special blanket.
A special hug for every child
These beautiful blankets are made by a dedicated UK-wide network of Project Linus volunteers. Each person donates their time, skill, and care to craft something unique. There’s an amazing variety of cosy, colourful, comforting blankets and quilts donated. Often they are designed around a child’s interests, like animals, hobbies, or favourite characters. No two blankets are the same, but every single one carries the same message: you are safe, you are seen, and you are not alone.
This initiative helps us do more than meet practical needs—it helps us offer comfort, connection, and dignity. It reminds children that they are valued and welcomed from the very start of their journey with us.
We’re incredibly proud to mark 25 years of not-for-profit fostering by sharing these “hugs in a blanket” with the children and young people we support.
A huge thank you to Project Linus UK for making this possible, and to our amazing social workers and foster carers for helping us deliver these gifts with thoughtfulness and care.
Here’s to 25 years of kindness, community, and child-centred care—and to making sure every child feels wrapped in warmth and support, wherever their story begins.
